Heyowza, cats and kittens, tonight's the night for the fifth installment of Freakin' Weekend to get underway. As a matter of fact, thanks to the Local Honey pop-up, it's already begun. If you saw last week's schedule announcement or Adam Gold's feature on Saturday headliners Natural Child, then you're probably already hip to the three-day festival curated by the bloggers/promoters/record label-ers over at Nashville's Dead. The fest has grown up quite a bit in its short life, starting with handful of locals throwing down at their houses and sprawling to one of the best multi-venue pre-SXSW parties you could ask for. As its regular participants have matured into national touring acts, they've attracted plenty of national acts from other local scenes, as well as a sponsor (Brooklyn Brewery Mash this year), and we couldn't be prouder. To help you orient yourself as you prepare to get your freak on, we've pulled together the pertinent details below.
The pop-up shop, where you can buy posters and records (including the new Fox Fun single) as well as catch sweet free shows on Friday and Saturday, is open from noon to five all three days at Local Honey (over in 12th South at 2009 Belmont Blvd). All of the other events are happening down on the Rock Block of Elliston Place. Three-day passes, a swell bargain at $40, are available at any of the ticket links below — just make sure to pick '3 Day Pass' at checkout.

I guess for now you've got the last laugh
I'm sorry if I seem uninterested
Or I'm not listening, or I'm indifferent
Truly I ain't got no business here
But since my friends are here
I just came to kick it
But really I would rather be at home all by myself
Not in this room with people who don't even care about my well being
I don't dance, don't ask
I don't need a boyfriend
So you can go back, please enjoy your party
I'll be here
Or I'm not listening, or I'm indifferent
Truly I ain't got no business here
But since my friends are here
I just came to kick it
But really I would rather be at home all by myself
Not in this room with people who don't even care about my well being
I don't dance, don't ask
I don't need a boyfriend
So you can go back, please enjoy your party
I'll be here

Somewhere in the corner under clouds of marijuana
with this boy who's hollerin' and I can hardly hear
over this music I don't listen to
And I don't wanna get with you
with this boy who's hollerin' and I can hardly hear
over this music I don't listen to
And I don't wanna get with you
So tell my friends that I'll be over here
Oh oh oh here, oh oh oh here
Oh oh oh I asked myself, 'What am I doin' here?'
Oh oh oh here, oh oh oh here
And I can't wait 'til we can break up out of here
Oh oh oh here, oh oh oh here
Oh oh oh I asked myself, 'What am I doin' here?'
Oh oh oh here, oh oh oh here
And I can't wait 'til we can break up out of here
Excuse me if I seem a little unimpressed with this
An antisocial pessimist
But usually I don't mess with this
And I know you mean only the best and your
Intentions aren't to bother me, but honestly I'd rather be
An antisocial pessimist
But usually I don't mess with this
And I know you mean only the best and your
Intentions aren't to bother me, but honestly I'd rather be
Somewhere with my people, we can kick it and just listen to
Some music with a message
(Like we usually do)

And we'll discuss our big dreams, how we plan to take over the planet
So pardon my manners
So pardon my manners
I hope you'll understand that I'll be here
Not there in the kitchen
With the girl who's always gossipin' about her friends
Oh tell them I'll be here
Right next to the boy who's throwin' up
'Cause he can't take what's in his cup no more
Not there in the kitchen
With the girl who's always gossipin' about her friends
Oh tell them I'll be here
Right next to the boy who's throwin' up
'Cause he can't take what's in his cup no more
Oh God why am I here?
Oh oh oh here, oh oh oh here
Oh oh oh I asked myself, 'What am I doin' here?'
Oh oh oh here, oh oh oh here
Oh oh oh I asked myself, 'What am I doin' here?'
Oh oh oh here, oh oh oh here
And I can't wait 'til we can break up out of here
Hours later congregatin' next to the refrigerator
Some girl's talkin' 'bout a hater, she ain't got none
How did it ever come to this?
I should've never come to this
So holla at me, I'll be in the car when you're done
I'm stand-offish, don't want what you're offerin'
And I'm done talkin', awfully sad it had to be that way
So tell my people when they're ready that I'm ready
And I'm standin' by the TV with my beanie low
Yo, I'll be over here
Oh oh oh here, oh oh oh here
Oh oh oh I asked myself, 'What am I doin' here?'
Oh oh oh here, oh oh oh here
And I can't wait 'til we can break up out of here

It's The Freakin Weekend Baby
“These are my mountains and I have come home.” The boy paid the p..oignant Ralston cairn a visit when he was passing through a very moody and atmospheric looking Glen Coe at the weekend. At ground level the glen was busy with cars, hikers and tourists, but this beautiful viewpoint was serene and people free. ??See More

The boy’s home now after a wonderful stay at the Pierhouse Hotel, Po..rt Appin. It rained for most of our trip, but that didn’t stop us enjoying lots of nice walks and photo stops. This scenic, short hike was just behind the hotel. The whole trail was covered in rhododendrons - gorgeous. And don’t get me started on that sublime light on those distant mountains. ????I’m going to miss this view, my cosy seat by the fire in the hotel snug, the delicious food and being lulled to sleep by the gentle sound of the waves lapping against the shore. I hope you’ve all had a lovely, blissful weekend too.See More
